Handy Storage - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What size space do I need?

A: The amount of space that you need depends on the things that you will be storing? We offer a wide variety of sizes at our locations to make sure that you can choose a unit that is closest to the space that you need, thus saving you money.

Q: Do I have to sign a long term contract?

A: At Handy Storage your lease is month-to-month. There is no long term contract to worry about.

Q: What type of security is there at the property?

A: All of our locations have resident managers who live on-site. Additionally, we have security cameras, fully fenced facilities, and you use your lock and key for your storage unit door. (Amenities vary by location)

Q: Do you provide a lock?

A: Yes, all of our locations sell a variety of locks or you may bring your own lock.

Q: Do you offer move-in specials?

A: You will find that our rates are affordable and in most cases no move-in special is needed. Many of our properties offer cost savings features such as a FREE Moving truck when you rent a storage unit and at all of our locations when you pay for 12 months in advance you get one month rent free.

Q: What are your hours of operation?

A: All of our locations are open 7 days per week. The access hours at each location varies, please contact the individual location that is most convenient to you or visit the locations page to see the hours of operation for each location.

Q: Do I have after hours access?

A: All of our locations have access until at least 7PM. Many of our locations have access until 9PM and all gates open at either 6 or 7AM.

Q: What methods of payment do you accept?

A: You may pay for your storage unit and your packing supplies with cash, check, money order, or a credit card.

Q: Do I need Insurance?

A: While your things are in storage they are not covered by the location for loss or damage. It is recommended that you obtain coverage through our Specialty Self Storage Insurance Provider (Ask you Store Manager for Details), or that you add coverage through your homeowners or renters policy.

Q: What is the deposit charge?

A: Handy Storage does not charge a deposit. We do charge a small, one time, administrative fee of $20.

Q: What items cannot be stored?

A: You may not store any materials that are hazardous, combustible, or dangerous to others. Additionally, no food or perishable items may be stored. Our knowledgeable property managers will be happy to answer your specific questions on what can be stored. Examples of items that may not be stored are: paint or paint products, fireworks, food, gasoline, or any ammunition.

Q: Is there pest control at the storage facility?

A: All of our units are thoroughly cleaned and treated before and after each tenant uses the space. This treatment includes treating the storage unit for pests.

Q: Do you accept deliveries to the storage unit?

A: We will gladly sign for your package deliveries from any carrier that will deliver them to your storage unit.

Q: Can I store a vehicle?

A: Yes. We offer both outside and interior parking spaces that can accommodate most vehicles, trailers, boats, and wave runners. You must be the registered owner of the vehicle, it must be running, and you must show registration and insurance information at the time of rental.

Q: Do you pay referral fees?

A: Yes. We offer our existing tenants a $50 referral discount for each new customer that they refer to us who rents a unit.
